Really dumb sheet music question regarding guitar/piano?

I used to be pretty good at piano in my younger days and I'm thinking about getting back into it. I want to buy sheet music from a band that mostly has guitar songs. Would I be able to translate these to piano notes easily or would it just be guitar tabs or whatever? Any advice/answers will be appreciated!Really dumb sheet music question regarding guitar/piano?
Well, I play guitar, and if all the music is guitar music then it will be tabs and you wont be able to play that on the piano. But I have seen books that have songs that are played on guitars, but have been translated into sheet music that you could play on the piano. You would just have to look around online or in stores, or music stores.Really dumb sheet music question regarding guitar/piano?
Most popular big groups you will be able to find piano sheet music that has guitar chords on it - but shouldn't have to buy guitar music and translate it for piano.
Sightreading would be good for more classical guitar playing where you want one note at a time. If you want guitar songs from bands, most likely they will use chords. Do you want to play rhythm guitar or lead guitar? If you want the basic song, you need to know chords. Do you remember your chords (triads)? If you can remember that, then you might find guitar a little easier. Most sheet music will have the guitar chords on top of the music systems - just make sure it has ';piano/guitar'; marked on it b4 you buy it. Tabs are something completely different, but it's good to learn both. Just have fun with it!
Basically..guitar tabs can be easily translated to simple notes for Piano/Keyboard..but that needs a lot of involvement in the Music Theory..coz..from guitar sheet..if you translate only the tab notes...that is not going to work for you for all the Chords...coz..if you miss out open notes in the guitar tabs..the notes would be entirely different....So,i'd suggest better take help/advice from a guitar player when you're finished with the translation of notes..
